Honest talk about homosexuality!

When you have rejected the true light of God's word, naturally the darkness fills the void. Where there is no light there can be only darkness. Jesus, himself, said in John 3:19 "And this is condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil." All men have sinned and come short of God's standard. All are under condemnation.

First Corinthians 6:9-11 says that, those who have rejected Jesus as savior AND Lord, and CONTINUE to practice such acts are condemened unless they repent and turn from them. The ancient city of Corinth was a wicked city with such pagan idolatry and sexual immorality. However, Paul was addressing Christian believers who had repented from those wicked life styles. By faith in Jesus Christ and the power of the indwelling Holy Spirit, they now lived their lives to God. They were thus sanctified to God, justified by the sacrifice of Jesus, but being perfected by continuous faith, repentence and love.

We must understand that there is no such thing as the UNIVERSAL fatherhood of God. God is the father of those who believe in Him, have repented of the works of their hands and , by faith, live their lives unto God through the authority of Jesus Christ in their regenerated lives. If you read the book of 1st John, it is very clear that NOT all in the world are the children of God. John spells out in this epistle the reality of sin, the knowledge of darkness and light, the children of God, the witness of the New Birth and the nature of God. He, also, shows that believers are not immune to failure, but when we fail we must repent, confess and continue to willingly walk in His commandments. We cannot claim to be Christians and continue to practice sin, trying to hide our failures or rationalize our faults by the standards of the World. We must strive for the higher standard and trust in God to give us the power to do so. When we come to the end of human strength, God's strength is perfected in us as we surrender to Him in faith and trust.

Throughout God's word He condemns homosexuality as an 'abomination' in His sight. He also condemns all forms of disobedience. After all, He IS God. This IS His creation. We live for His glory, not our own. But, He is also gracious, long-suffering and loving and has provided the way for our escape from the power of the sin nature by faith and faith alone in the finished work of Jesus Christ at the Cross. But we must also know that we deceive ourselves when we say we love Him but will not give up our sins and self efforts, which are in disobedience to His perfect will for our lives.

The church is obligated, as the Body of Christ, to condemn sin but to love the sinner. We are to accept ALL who profess faith in Jesus Christ. But, we are commanded to "try all spirits" and insist on a demonstration of the fruit of repentance by a willingness to turn from wickedness (God's definition) and to always be in an attitude of repentance. We cannot accept into leadership those who will not accept the authority of God's word and refuse to repent of the practices of sinful lifestyles. We must, also, realize that God takes unrepentant sin very seriously. Throughout the old testament we see that God dealt swiftly and harshly with "sin in the camp", and we are told in the New Testament that these were given to us as "examples". The church, as His body, in this world should do no less.

We can best serve God and those in bondage to homosexuality by telling them the truth. That their lifestyle is a sin and abominable in the eyes of a Holy God. But that God also loves them; so much that He gave His only Son to die as payment for that sin. By His grace and repentance of (turning from) that sinful way, they can be assured of God's acceptance and, by continuously walking in faith and working out their salvation "in fear and trembling", the power of that sin can and will be broken forever.
